A lot of people wish they had a beautiful walk-in butler’s pantry but it is not all that possible for most people to have, due to either their lack of finances or the limited space in their homes. If you are one of the people who desire these big pantries but cannot seem to have one, there is no need to be upset about it. Because there are ways for you to get what you want without having to remodel your home or blow the budget. So here are some pantry essentials that give your space all those storeroom necessities, without actually having a separate butler’s pantry:
Bench space galore
You need a ton of prep-space if you want your pantry to feel like a useful space. Whether it is wooden or stone bench tops just make sure to get those of good quality so they will last long. Also, the more counter space the better. If you feel like you do not have that much counter space, then hire a designer to see what he or she can do to create more counter-top space area in your kitchen. You need plenty of space to store your groceries and appliances, so make sure there’s enough room.
A whole lot of power points
You might think that this is a little unnecessary but trust me when I tell you that it is not. You need at least five or six plug points in various areas of the pantry for the microwave, the blender, the food processor, the rice cooker, the toaster and so much more. Whatever said or done, I suggest you get a minimum of four plug points in the pantry to be on the safe side. Because it will be such a hassle to have to use one multiple for everything, so it is always better to have more. If you have your appliances already plugged in and on the counter, then you are more likely to use them more frequently than if they were inside the cupboard and you had to find a place to plug them in.
Tons of drawers and shelves
You will need a lot of opening shelving as this gives you better access to everything and also helps you see what you have or do not have. So if you are running low of let’s say cereal, then you will know that a refill is needed just by looking at the pantry. It also helps you find things better when there is open shelving. But make sure that there is a way to close up the shelving should it get messy when you have people over. It is best if the shelves go all the way to the ceiling (which you can reach with a small stool). Also make sure that you have a lot of drawers under your countertop for utensils and other such items.
These are the pantry essentials and if you want something similar just remember that you need a lot of bench space (preferably made of natural stone); open shelving, drawers and extra plug points.
